We both had relaxing weekends for a change! I didn’t have a whole lot of church stuff going on and got to catch up on some sleep and spend time with friends and family. The fact that I’m really going to be moving down to North Carolina in is starting to sink in and I’m becoming more intentional about using the time I have left here to visit with all the people that I care about while I’m still up here in Maryland. I hung out with my mom some on Saturday afternoon and then spent the evening with 5 of my close girlfriends (3 of whom are going to be my bridesmaids!). We had a great time and talked late into the night.
A lot of people have been asking me what Andy is doing while he’s alone in Southern Pines. He says that he’s been keeping himself occupied exploring the town, walking in the mornings, eating at local restaurants, cooking a little, watching sports, and playing with his new Playstation. He likes being able to take naps on the weekends (since he’s not a grad student and pastor anymore, he doesn’t have the flexible schedule that allows him to nap during the week). There was a street fair in the town of Southern Pines this past weekend that he had a good time walking around. He was able to meet some people from the local Southern Pines chapter of the Red Cross. He’s been checking out churches in his area and has found one that he likes and has started attending there for the last few weeks. We’ll probably visit around a little more and make the final decision of where to go to church together once I get there in September, but it’s great that he’s found somewhere that he is enjoying already.
Not a whole lot of new wedding plans/info to share this week. We have almost finalized reservations at a few hotels in the Baltimore area for our out of town guests. If you have any questions or input, please let us know. Keep checking the Wedding and Travel pages of this website for more info. We’re working on wedding party details and I am thankful that I have three incredible friends who are going to stand up with me. I have known all of these girls for 15+ years and they have all been a huge part of my life. One of my bridemaids is a new (new-ish) mother to an adorable little girl who is going to be my flower girl. My friend actually went into labor with her the night of my birthday party two years ago, so we share close birthdays. My siblings are also all going to be involved in the ceremony and I’m thankful for their love and support.
Andy and I have already been missing each other a lot and are glad that we don’t have to do the long distance thing for very long. We’re not sure we would be able to make it very well! I’m amazed by people like my brother, Patrick, who has been in a long distance relationship with his fiance’, Jenette, for almost 2 years. They have a great relationship and have made it work even through all the trials that come with distance. I’m looking forward to celebrating the end of their long distance relationship with them at their wedding this July. They plan to smash/destroy their cell phones as part of the ceremony to signify the end of that portion of their relationship where they had to rack up so many cell phone minutes just to keep connected on a day to day basis.
